Arsene Wenger, FIFA's chief of global football development, has backed the governing body's decision to withdraw its controversial proposal to allow private investment in its flagship tournaments. The plan, proposed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, involved creating a commercial subsidiary for major tournaments and reportedly offered $40 million to each of FIFA's 211 member associations. Following widespread opposition, including a boycott threat from UEFA's 55 member associations, the proposal was scrapped. Wenger distanced himself from the plan, stating he had no involvement.
