Peterborough Women's Aid chief executive Mandy Geraghty has welcomed a new £23 million Ministry of Justice initiative to establish dedicated courtrooms for rape and serious sexual offences within the next two years. The measures include private entrances, private waiting rooms, trauma-informed staff training, and fixed trial dates starting in October to prevent survivors from facing overwhelming and re-traumatising delays.
The measures aim to make the justice system less daunting and encourage more survivors to seek justice.
