6 Crore Voters Purged

Nearly 6 crore names have already been wiped from India's voter lists in a monumental purge. This massive deletion comes as Karnataka launches a door-to-door survey for its special intensive revision on June 30th.

The Election Commission of India claims the paradigm-shifting exercise will deliver a pure and accurate electoral roll. But the process is sparking intense public anxiety and political clashes over who actually has the right to vote.

A major source of confusion is the reliance on old records from 2002 to verify current electors. A Bengaluru survey reveals that 61% of people have not even heard of this revision process.

Furthermore, 34% of those surveyed are mistakenly relying on Aadhaar cards to prove their citizenship status. With political leaders warning of voter destruction, the outcome of this sweep will shape the Greater Bengaluru Authority elections scheduled before August 31st.
