Everton sign midfielder Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for a fee of at least £16m.

The 24-year-old Championship Player of the Season had just one year left on his contract after helping Boro reach the playoff final in May. Hackney made 154 appearances and scored 16 goals for the club he joined at under-10 level.
The manager's track record of bringing players from the Championship to the Premier League was a massive part of my decision, he said. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest were also interested, but Hackney chose Everton's new stadium and David Moyes' plan.
He joins on a 5-year deal, aiming to be the next to make the jump successfully.
