Record 3,302 Billionaires Globally

The global billionaire population has exploded to an eye-catching record of 3,302, marking an industry-shaking surge of nearly 13% in a single year. According to a major report from UBS Group AG, these elites expanded their total assets by 25% in the year to April 2026.

This aggressive play easily outpaced the broader world, even as global personal wealth experienced a massive sea change of its own. That global wealth growth accelerated from 4.3% in 2023 to an important 10.8% jump in 2025.

This surge was driven by the US and Asia, with the US cementing its dominance by hosting 15 of the 19 global individuals worth over $100 billion. While a weaker US dollar artificially inflated some international assets, the underlying concentration of capital remains undeniable.

Yet, this flagship release reveals a dark paradox: while billionaire fortunes soared, median wealth actually fell across most global markets. UBS economist James Maso notes that high stock market participation is heavily driving these concentrated increases in wealth.

This leaves behind a stark reality of deepening global disparity, where the ultra-rich capture the vast majority of financial gains.
