3D-Printed Nuclear Reactor
Is this the future of AI power? ⚡ Ampera just unveiled a 3D-printed thorium nuclear reactor designed to fuel energy-hungry data centers.
What the video says
Could 3D-printed nuclear reactors solve the massive power demands of artificial intelligence? Startup Ampera has just unveiled its first full-scale 3D-printed thorium nuclear reactor module.
The company is targeting a 30 MWe power output with its complete system. This system is designed specifically to feed energy-hungry AI data centers.
It is described as the world's first subcritical, solid-state, factory-built thorium reactor. The subcritical design is inherently safer because its fuel cannot trigger a runaway reaction.
Additionally, the solid-state core has no moving parts to simplify maintenance. CEO Brian Matthews reported that these reactors are built for the markets needing power the most.
