This massive surge has propelled the classic tactical shooter to the number 28 spot on the Steam charts. It is currently drawing more active players than massive world-class hits like Baldur's Gate 3 and Rainbow Six Siege.

This landmark growth comes after Valve unmerged the game from Counter-Strike 2 and restored it as a standalone version earlier this year. The new sequel, Counter-Strike 2, still dominates the platform as a true powerhouse, with well over a million players.

But analysts suggest that the tactical landscape is clearly diverse enough to support multiple active Counter-Strike titles simultaneously. This sudden breakthrough proves there is still a powerful, lasting demand for the classic Global Offensive formula.
