Pro vs Ultra chip gap

Over 90% of the world's Galaxy S27 Pro buyers could be stuck with a processor that lags behind the Ultra model's power. Samsung's upcoming flagship lineup splits its chips by region: the Galaxy S27 Ultra keeps Qualcomm's Snapdragon worldwide, while the new Pro model reportedly swaps in Samsung's own Exynos 2700 everywhere except the US.

The Exynos 2700 is rumored to be a second-generation 2nm chip, built with a side-by-side package that places processor and memory side by side under a dedicated heat dissipation block. Yet analysts cautioned the design may not close the performance gap with Snapdragon, undermining the Pro's promise of ultra-level specs without the S Pen's cost or bulk.

Samsung already uses this dual-chip strategy for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, reserving Snapdragon for American buyers and Exynos for the rest of the world. This year's leak suggests the pattern continues: the Galaxy S27, S27+, and S27 Pro will all run Exynos 2700 globally, while only the Ultra sticks with Snapdragon across every market.

Beyond the chip split, the entire S27 series is expected to add a privacy display that blocks side-angle viewing, and both the Pro and Ultra models will upgrade to a 16-megapixel front camera, Taken together, the hardware picture shows Samsung pushing its in-house silicon harder, even as the regional divide risks diluting the Pro's appeal for power users outside the US. If the leak holds, the Galaxy S27 Pro may end up a near-Ultra on paper, but a step behind in practice for most of the world.
