Can a 3,500mAh battery finally fix the iPhone Air's biggest weakness? Apple's next sleek flagship, the iPhone Air 2, is rumored to pack exactly that, up from the original's 3,149mAh cell.
The jump looks big on paper, but analysts warn the real runtime boost will come from elsewhere. A 2nm A20 Pro chipset and a new C2 5G modem are expected to sip power far more efficiently than the battery upgrade alone, The phone also tracks Pro models with a 6.55-inch LTPO LED screen, 120Hz ProMotion, and a dual 48-megapixel camera.
Yet even with all those upgrades, leaks suggest the iPhone Air 2 will only deliver slightly better screen-on time than its predecessor. That still leaves it trailing the iPhone 18 Pro Max's 5,567mAh battery by a wide margin.
So while Apple is finally addressing the criticism, the fix may not feel meaningful to users. The iPhone Air 2 is expected to ship later this year with iOS 27 and its new power-saving scheduler.
