A massive wave of PlayStation Network connection failures has suddenly locked players out of online services, right as a highly anticipated release was supposed to begin. According to Downdetector, reports of the outage spiked rapidly this morning, leaving PS5 users unable to log in just as the Marvel: Token Fighting Souls open beta launched.
While console players struggled to connect, SteamDB tracked a peak of 22,087 concurrent players on PC during the beta's first hour,. That massive turnout on Steam already rivals established giants, coming remarkably close to the all-time peak of over 31,000 players set by Street Fighter 6.
With the weekend approaching, PlayStation has not yet issued any official statement regarding when the network will return to service. For now, fighting game fans on console can do nothing but wait for a fix to finally experience the newly launched beta.
