Why did it take 13 years for Final Fantasy 14 to finally tap into its most iconic universe? At the Berlin Fan Festival, producer Naoki Yoshida announced a major crossover is finally happening.
The upcoming Evercold expansion will feature an 8-player raid series themed around Final Fantasy 7. It is titled Beyond the Lifestream.
A notable team is back in the project. Motomo Toriyama is assisting with the story.
Kazushige Nojima is supervising, and Tetsuya Nomura is handling designs. Observers point out this marks the MMO's first direct, major character and world crossover with the classic game.
Additionally, an update on October 28th will bring a new attraction modeled after the original Gold Saucer.
