Every time you start a new session with your command-line AI, it completely forgets who you are and how you prefer to work. To solve this, a new open-source tool called Wienerdog has launched, to give Claude, Code, and Codex a persistent memory vault using nothing but local files.
This MIT-licensed utility operates entirely without a background daemon, server, or telemetry, meaning none of your data ever phones home. It installs a local Markdown profile and memory vault directly on your machine, allowing different command-line tools to share the exact same context.
A scheduled nightly dreaming process automatically reviews your daily conversations to extract key information and update your recurring task skills. The project is currently in version 0.x, offering a lightweight, serverless alternative to heavy personal AI agent applications.
