OpenAI just cut GPT-6 prices in half! They launched GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna right after Anthropic rolled out Claude Opus 5.5.
This triggered a massive price war, dropping Claude Opus 5.5 inputs to $4 per million. But testing showed Opus 5.5 at max thinking failed by hitting its 128,000 token limit.
Meanwhile, the new models are already being deployed to build local business database apps cheaper. GPT-6 Luna was released at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens, which is half the price of its GPT-5.6 equivalent.
