AI's Tripled Revenue Target
The cost of the AI boom just skyrocketed. Can the industry find trillions in new revenue before the infrastructure bill comes due?

The AI industry's required revenue target just tripled in one year. To fund its massive infrastructure habit, the sector needs $6 trillion in annual revenue by 2031.
Bain& Company estimates that annual infrastructure spending will hit $1.5 trillion by then. However, existing uses will only bring in up to $1.8 trillion, leaving a $2.7 trillion gap.
Making matters worse, Jefferies reports only half of the scheduled 2026 US data center capacity is under construction. This explains why Bain's required revenue forecast to sustain infrastructure skyrocketed from $2 trillion for 2030 to $6 trillion for 2021.
