What the video says

Canada is spending $8.7 billion to pivot steel. Ottawa and Toronto are funding a structural shift in Ontario heavy industry to protect steel producers.

Automotive steel demand dropped after export volumes in the car supply chain suffered double-digit losses. This industrial strategy targets preserving approximately 100,000 jobs in the sector by redirecting physical output.

Prime Minister Mark Carney stated future steel demand will increasingly come from rails, pipes, ports, and defense. The plan commits $1 billion CAD in federal funding over 3 years for roads in the Ring of Fire.

To build these projects faster, federal and provincial leaders created a coordinated permitting process. The CORE remains a 5-year fund allocating $5.2 billion CAD to defense, rail, pipelines, and port infrastructure.
