The energy company has been preparing for this transition since 2015 by applying traditional AI, analytics, and predictive models to its business. According to Digital Vice President Andrew Maloney, Woodside has always possessed massive volumes of operational data coming directly from its equipment and plants.
Now, they are utilizing a specialized AI copilot called Startup Advisor to help panel operators manage the incredibly complex process of starting liquefied natural gas plants. The company is also deploying a maintenance intelligence solution designed to optimize physical labor on its assets.
This specific intelligence tool is projected to reduce maintenance hours by up to 15% over 5 years on a pilot asset. While managing 50 agents is currently achievable, Maloney notes the company is still figuring out how to scale to hundreds or thousands of active systems.
