Reports from The Information reveal that Astra is designed to coordinate multiple AI agents to solve complex problems over hours or even days, However, critics note that multi-agent setups can struggle with tightly linked tasks, where compounding errors and coordination overhead often degrade performance.
Despite these hurdles, the company plans to introduce an AI with research intern-level skills as early as this September. According to Chief Scientist Jakub Pachetzki, this serves as a stepping stone toward OpenAI's ultimate goal of launching a fully autonomous AI researcher by March 2028.
