Users trying to log in were blocked by error messages, stating that Claude was unable to authenticate. More than 12,000 US users flagged the outage on Downdetector as reports spiked early Tuesday morning.
Developer Anthropic investigated elevated error rates across almost all services, though Claude for Government remained unaffected. Most services recovered by 14:59 UTC, restoring Claude Code, Cowork, and Chat, though messages sent in the final hour may be lost.
