Secret Oval Office Talks Revealed
What happened behind closed doors at the White House—and where peace negotiations head next.
What the video says
Trump just held a secret White House meeting with Putin's envoy. President Donald Trump revealed he held an unscheduled Oval Office meeting with Russian envoy Tyryl Dmitriev.
Dmitriev was attending talks hosted by Melania Trump, but the president did not meet Ukrainian officials at the White House. The first lady called for an enduring ceasefire, building on last month's localized 6-day truce in Oleshky.
Meanwhile, U.S. Envoy Jared Kushner announced productive talks between Washington, NATO, Ukraine, and European allies.
These initial discussions paved the way for direct negotiations involving Kyiv and Moscow in Abu Dhabi next week. Simultaneously, the NATO-Ukraine Council convened an extraordinary session in Brussels to address urgent military needs.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte chaired the briefing with Ukrainian officials Sergei Boyev and Serhii Sobko. Kyiv pressed international partners to immediately turn previous spending promises into physical equipment deliveries before winter.
The urgency comes right before the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meets on November 17th under British and German leadership. Trump promised White House talks will yield a major peace deal, extending beyond Ukraine to cover all of Europe.
