What the video says

Starlink turns off if you move past 99 mph. European nations are now racing to build their own satellite alternative to SpaceX.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed the effort after military operations faced sudden speed caps. Reports first emerged on October 14 that connection throttles were crippling field communications.

Ukrainian forces rely heavily on Starlink equipment supplied by Elon Musk's company. Zelensky warned that Washington can unilaterally control satellite access, regardless of existing contracts.

He explained that European leaders now see relying on American infrastructure as a major security threat. European countries are already making real progress on independent tech, according to Zelensky.

Tests conducted inside European Union borders showed terminals operated smoothly above 112 miles per hour. Within EU territory, satellite hardware faced none of the velocity restrictions imposed in combat zones.

Elon Musk claimed the speed limits on Starshield service were mandated by the United States government. However, Donald Trump stated he made no decisions regarding Starlink service operations in Ukraine.

Zelensky called the targeted speed caps part of a planned operation impacting military capabilities. As a direct result, specialized Ukrainian interceptor drones have been rendered unable to fly.

Terminals shut down completely over 160 kilometers per hour, severing drone links instantly.
