What the video says
Rey just got cast in a body horror movie. Daisy Ridley has been cast in a new horror feature called Get Rid of It, written by Gemma Holdway and directed by Rye Russo-Young.
She plays Harper, a woman who joins her sister on a cross-country road trip after a one-night stand leaves her pregnant, and the thing growing inside her may not be human. Suzy Bacon, from Smile, and Simon Rex, from Red Rocket, co-star opposite her.
David Lancaster, the producer of Whiplash, is producing. Russo-Young called the project "propulsive and playful," praising its compelling point of view and heart beneath the horror.
Filming is slated to start in early 2027. This isn't her first horror role.
She appeared in the indie horror Scrawl before Star Wars, and more recently starred in the zombie movie We Bury the Dead. She'll next be seen in the holiday film Ebenezer, a darker take on A Christmas Carol, directed by Ti West, co-starring Johnny Depp, hitting theaters November 13th.
Ridley also has the rom-com The Last Resort with fellow Star Wars alum Alden Ehrenreich, and she's set to executive produce and star in a Paramount+ series adaptation of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. As for her return as Rey, plans exist but remain unclear.
Charmaine Obaid-Chinoy's Rey-focused film may have been shelved in favor of a Simon Kinberg trilogy that could still feature Ridley. So while Star Wars waits, Ridley's next on-screen battle will be in Get Rid of It, fighting for survival against a pregnancy that may not be human.
