Billie Piper is starring in a new supernatural horror movie. The upcoming project is titled Sketchbook.
Screen Daily reports that filming for the movie is scheduled to begin in Wales in early 2027. The plot centers on a 14-year-old boy trying to fit back in at home after years in foster care.
A group of teenage misfits introduces him to a mysterious sketchbook that makes anything drawn inside it real. Through his drawings, the boy finally gains the friendship, attention, and belonging he has always wanted.
As the sketches turn darker, he realizes a terrifying force inside the pages is actually using him. Director Jamie Jones aims to create a grounded horror experience that feels immediate and impossible to escape.
Jones explains that the book serves as a metaphor for bullying and the fantasy of revenge. He notes that as curiosity turns into obsession, seeking revenge brings terrifying real-world consequences.
To build realism, Jones plans to work closely with young actors to develop authentic group dynamics. Producer David Lancaster says Jones knows how to access something deeply human underneath the horror elements.
Lancaster adds that the story taps into the adolescent experience in a moving yet unnerving way. Piper recently portrayed music professor Isadora Capri in the second season of Wednesday on Netflix.
Co-star Woody Norman recently played King Richard II in the Robin Hood film The Uprising. Norman also brought genre experience from starring in earlier horror films Cobweb and The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
She stars alongside Woody Norman in Sketchbook, directed by Jamie Jones, where cursed drawings make desires come true with deadly consequences.
