What the video says
ABC's hit crime drama just landed on Netflix! That show is Will Trent, which premiered back in 2023 and quickly built a massive television following.
Based on Corinne Slaughter's book series, the procedural follows Special Agent Will Trent of Georgia's Bureau of Investigation. Starring Ramon Rodriguez in the lead role, Trent grew up in Atlanta's foster care system after being orphaned as a child.
That childhood background made him keenly observant, allowing him to pick up on critical details that other investigators miss. His hyperattentive style causes constant friction with fellow detectives, who dislike his unconventional investigative ways.
Early in his career, Trent investigated deep corruption within the Atlanta Police Department, leading to multiple officer arrests. Those high-profile arrests earned him immediate hostility and resentment from officers across the entire local force.
To make matters tenser, He was assigned a new partner named Faith Mitchell, played by Iantha Richardson. Faith happens to be the daughter of one of those corrupt APD officers whom Trent put behind bars.
The reluctant partners must work together, solving complex homicides while navigating deep personal conflict and lingering anger. The unique dynamic turned the show into a ratings power, landing in the top 20 US series during 2024-25.
It garnered over 11.6 million views, competing directly alongside hit procedural rivals like Reacher and Landman. Season 4 wrapped up its broadcast run in May, and ABC promptly renewed the show for season 5.
Fifth season production is officially underway, with network plans pointing towards another mid-season broadcast premiere. Fans can now stream the first 4 seasons of Will Trent on Netflix and Hulu starting November 3rd.
